Humanity has finally found its place among the stars, or so it seems.
A decade after the Scorpii revealed themselves to Earth, their technology has opened pathways to distant worlds. Now, a small team of human and Scorpian scientists embark on a historic mission to Ross 128b, an alien world split by a colossal, planet-spanning chasm and home to two emerging civilisations on the brink of change. For the humans, it’s the chance of a lifetime and a journey into the unknown.
But what begins as a mission of discovery quickly becomes a test of survival, as the team confronts unfamiliar ecosystems and hidden dangers.
While discovery awaits light-years away, the greatest danger, however, may not lie on an alien world. As tensions escalate back on Earth, a reckless act could sever humanity’s only link to the galaxy, stranding those beyond and plunging both worlds into chaos.
In a universe full of unknowns, the greatest threat may not be alien at all, but human.
Chasm will be the second novel in a planned series and follows on directly from the universe first explored in the novel Species 8746.
